Flatiron Building

“I found myself agape, admiring a sky-scraper the prow of the Flatiron Building, to be particular, plowing up through the traffic of Broadway and Fifth Avenue in the afternoon light.” H. G. Wells

It has been called one of the world’s most iconic skyscrapers and a quintessential symbol of New York City. In the 1998 film Godzilla, it is accidentally destroyed by the US Army while in pursuit of the giant reptile. Luckily it’s Beaux-Arts bones were still standing strong when I explored downtown NYC in mid-2015, allowing me to capture a moment of supremely focused light which distinguished its curvaceous contour against formidable skies.
